
Chronology of the formation of a mechanism for compensation for damage from military aggression of the Russian Federation:
- 14 November 2022 The UN General Assembly adopted a work plan to ensure compensation for damage from the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. At the first stage, it is planned to create a register of losses from military aggression. Its start date is September 2023 of the year. The adopted regulatory document defines, that applications from citizens of Ukraine can be submitted to the register of losses, who suffered any form of damage as a result of the military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. At the next stage, a compensation commission should be formed, which will consider applications from citizens and legal entities for damages.
- 17 May 2023 year at the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik (Iceland) 40 States signed a political declaration on the creation of a Damage Register, caused by Russian aggression against Ukraine
